Why not low export duty on indian products?

Indian government puts considerably large tax on indian exports (40% for cotton waste, 25% on wool etc ... and so on) .. why can't we cut down this export duty to lower the price of indian products in international market?


First the Govt. has to safe guard the requirement of Indian market. If every thing is exported out, then again some one has to import the same for Indians use at a higher rate. Just to discourage the exports the Govt. imposes heavy export duty.
