What is the Best 100% cotton yarn for knitting?
Jackson's blanket seaming detail

I am considering cotton-ease but I am getting mixed reviews on the lion brand product. Please help! Yarn is exspencive and I can't afford to spend money on stuff that won't work.
I'm making a sweater. I like the feel of cotton much better then wool. I love how TLC Cotton Plus knits and cares, but I'm looking for a charcole color.

I worked at a knitting store for a year and a half, and the best cotton yarn by far is Blue Sky Alpacas brand organic or dyed cotton. I use it for everything. It is so soft, comes in a lot of colors, and is worsted weight. It's even machine wash and dryable. It comes in hanks of 150 yds and usually costs around $10 a hank. You can find it at some yarn shops, but you can go to the blue sky site for stores that carry it. Or you could get it online. The store I worked at has an online store and carries it all the time. It is called Unwind Yarn in Burbank, CA. I just moved to NC and there are no local stores that carry Blue Sky, which is my favorite brand. They also have great alpaca obviously. I will be continuing to order it from Unwind! Nothing else compares.

how to ease suspected conjunctivitis until monday in a 1 year old?
Jackson's blanket 5

I think my 17 month old son has conjunctivitis, his left eye is pinkish and has a greenish discharge appearing in the corner.
He has never had this before and it doesnt seem to be bothering him at the moment.
I keep cleaning the discharge away with cooled boiled water and cotton wool. but is there anything else that may help him until I can take him to the doctors monday?

I shouldn't worry too much, it looks worse than it is. Cojunctivitis is common for a child his age, and not too unbearable.

This is often caused by a small amount of dust entering the eye from a wafted pillow or a dusty car air vent blowing or dirty air-con, or from contracted another person.

Just take precautions that you do not catch this is my advice, it is very contagious.
use different towels and flannel etc, and make sure you don't wipe from one eye to another as the conjunctiva is seperate to each eye. Keep washing the childs hands and keep him away from other children for a few days.

Get some eye drops from BOOTS the chemists, don't bother your doctor with this.

It usually clears up after 3-6 days. 2 days with a dropper.

Can you shrink it if its 97% cotton?
Jackson's blanket 2

i hear all the time that 100% cotton can shrink with ease. It seems logical that something 97% cotton would shrink as well, but i'm thinking maybe that 3% of spandex might hold it together.

Yes,you can.Wash the garment in very hot water and then dry on high heat,if you want it to shrink.Do the oppisite if you don't want it to shrink.

My daughter put a cotton bud in her ear and it was bleeding should we go to hospital?
Jackson's blanket 1

There was a little blood she can hear her balance is fine her ear hurts of course, i gave her sachet of calpol which has eased her pain. The question is should i take her to hospital she is 5

I would unless you see the ear is clearly from the skin of the ear/cut or something. If you don't see the location and looks like it's coming from the inner ear, i'd take her in. You could have punctured the tympanic membrance (or ear drum).

How can I tame cotton candy like hair?
Jackson's blanket 4

I've tried heavy duty conditioning and frizz easing serums. Not much is working. Help!

First of all you need a good haircut, not with layers this makes it more poofy.

Wash your hair with an anit-frizz or dry damaged hair shampoo and conditioner.Don't wash hair often.

Invest in a styling products either hair serum, leave in hair moisturizer, mousse and hairspray hairdryer with valve, hard bristle large round brush.

Invest in some hair straightners like GHD but don't use these frequently, as they dry out and damage the hair. Use heat protect product when using these.

If you leave your hair to dry naturally it will be a big frizzy puff this is what happens to mine unless it put products on and wear it curly.

First comb hair when wet to detangle then When blowdrying the hair put mousse and serum in hair when wet, get a large hard bristle round brush this tames and straightens use hairdryer which has a valve type thing which directs the air one way this helps to smooth the hairshaft now hold the hair wrapped in the brush pulling down with holding the hairdryer above blowing down, also dry from the roots down to the tip.

When dry spray hairspray onto a comb and comb through hair to tame flyaway ends using somthing like gel on heavy products just makes it look stiff and greasy.

When sleeping wrap your hair in a satin scarf or a pair of tights to stop it becoming a ball of fluff when you get up.

Trim hair regulary, 6-8 weeks and treat with conditioning treatment once a month.

All of my knitting attention is now being paid to finishing my test-knit for Kirsten 's Starlight, Starbright pattern in Knitpicks Palette. I had several ditzy moments in the beginning and learned about Norwegian knitting before I got the pattern to work correctly for me, but now it's smooth sailing. I've never done steeks before, either, so this pattern is a real learning experience for me.
