Cotton drill is easy to work with if you pre-shrink it first.

You can sew the seam with the right sides together and then just leave it at that... or you can go one step further and finish the raw edges with a narrow zig zag. Or you can choose from a whole list of professional seam finishes.

I was unable to find a definition for cotton twill fabric but here is the one for drill.
Drill is a strong, durable cotton fabric with a strong bias (diagonal) in the weave. It can be used unbleached, although it is more often bleached, or dyed.

What fabric should I use when making a t-shirt?

I know I should use cotton, but what type: pure cotton, cotton drill, cotton jersey ect. I've tried looking in the labels of t-shirts, they just say 100% cotton, not very specific.

Check the fabric recommendations for your pattern. Typically, underwear t-shirts and the usual sort of screen printed t-shirts are made with cotton or cotton-poly blend jersey. Dressier ts can be made of interlock or novelty knits. There are also "woven ts", which require a different pattern and can be made of various woven fabrics.

A lot of my exercise t-shirts are actually a wicking polyester knit, known to many as underarmor. Very easy to work with and to sew.

Cut all knits on paper so that you get accurately cut shapes that sew together properly.

    Approval rating- My boy was wanting to wear it to school this morning so that has to be a good sign. From my perspective, it is a super easy pattern to get sewn up. Two issues I had with it were shared by another lady who used wovens. The sleeve tops were wide and didn't set in without gathering or pleating or trimming. The fronts of the upper section are meant to overlap but didn't. It is not problem as with a tee underneath I like this look. I also didn't put slits in the sleeves as I preferred a straight sleeve for this style of top on a boy in a heavier fabric. But I will definately make it again. Tees for me Mamu Ulla top for yours truly DRUM ROLL PLEAAAASEEEE ...
