Cotton Drawstring Pants

I bought a pair of linen/cotton blend pants at the Gap for summer. I like the way they look and fit, but I'm worried they are going to be too short in the inseam length. I have long legs and a thin build. The pants I bought were specified S, M, L, XL, so I couldn't select the length. I ended up with the M size because they fit my waist perfectly, but I'm worried that if I wash them they'll shrink a few inches in length and look really tacky. The L size fit better in length, but the waist was huge (even with the drawstrings), and it looked tacky there too.

Is it okay if the pants fit a little shorter than normal dress or khaki pants, or is this a no-go? Of course, I could get lucky and they may not shrink at all, but they are 55% linen, 45% cotton, so I'm expecting some shrinkage. I haven't worn them yet, and I'm debating returning them for a larger size.

the question is how short?
If they aren't so short I'd keep them because pants that are too big won't look good even if the length is good.
I doubt they'll shrink but wash in cold water just in case. You should also hang to dry and avoid the drier.

I have a pair of cotton drawstring pants, and i NEED them to be stretched out ASAP.

Story: I am on a sports team, and I bought a pair of warmup pants.
I tried on a pair from another teammate, and they fit perfectly. I was pre-warned that when I got my pair, they would be small, and I'd need to stretch them out.

I need these pants to be stretched out really soon, as our first competition is comming up shortly, and the way that the team vetrans strethed out their pants was wearing them frequently.. i've been wearing mine for 3 days straight, and still have little change. Would washing them in cold water have any effect? Also, they are long enough.. they are just too snug in the thighs and calves. Thanks!
I don't see how that would work for width.. like i said, they are long enough, I need to expand the circumfrence of the legs. Thanks for the response though.

Try playing tug of war with them. I know this sounds weird, but I did this my Cheerleading equipment, and it works great. Just remember when it comes time to wash them, to do so in cold water and hang to dry, that way they don't shrink back. That happened to me once and it sucked. It was not the time for it to happen, right before a game... ya know. Good luck.

I got these pants at target 4 years ago, they have a drawstring and waste band there staight cut and have a lion symbol in a little box on the left hand side, very thin and light weight. they have pockets in front but nun in back...and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and there mossimo
