Cotton Crib

that do not break the bank....?
I saw Nature's Purest at Toys r us and it's soooo nice and soft and made of organic cotton but I just can't afford $250 for a crib set.
Most of the other sets i've touched weren't nearly as soft. Where can I get some nice, soft, combed cotton, if possible, crib sets??

Got a Burlington Coat Factory anywhere near? They carry the Carter's line and have a whole wall full of bedding. Its all sold seperately and not as a set, but is VERY inexpensive. The crib sheet is just cotton but the bumpers and blankets they have to choose from are the combed super soft cotton.

I'm trying to find a really soft, high thread count white organic cotton fabric to make a crib set (preferably not made in China).

None of the fabric stores I've visited have nice quality fabric, so I was hoping to find an online resource.

I am making a christmas crib...i want to feels it like snow falling on the crib...may be some cotton..or something...but it should always fall..without inturuption...
How to make a snow fall on my christmas crib?

Without interruption is a tall order.
You'd have to pull a hollywood deal using artificial snow ( or make your own using very small paper clippings and chits.) Maybe you can find a shredder than creates small clippings.
Then using a mesh screen over the crib where the chits can be held and pass through but not fall too freely, you would have to rig it so that is shakes steadily dropping some 'flakes' . You have to have a removal able tray underneath so as to catch the fallen chits for reuse.
Two issues here are:
1) to find a mechanism to shake the screen on regular intervals
2) to refill the mesh as often as necessary so you don't run out..
It's doable if you have the time, lot's of chits and some real ingenuity.

I have been reading a ton of literature about possible toxins in crib mattresses and am worried that it may be contributing to my daughter's eczema. I noticed a pattern. She only began getting the rash when she was put in her crib (around 3 months). I changed over to only cotton sheets and bumper, thinking maybe it was polyester, but she still gets the rash. It is horrible on her cheeks when she wakes up, but fades during the day when she's up and playing and away from the crib. I've been putting her in her playpen to sleep now and the rash is going away. I have ordered a cotton mattress from naturepedic and was wondering if anyone else has purchased one and what their experience has been.

all three of my boys had skin issues. I used a natural cotton crib futon for all of them. The thing you have to realize is that allergies and reactions can happen at any time from anything which is why you want to reduce all possibilities as much as possible. Getting an all-cotton mattress is an excellent start, as is cotton sheets and blankets. But if you aren't using a derm-sensitive laundrey detergent, it won't do any good. My boys still occasionaly have break-outs and its usually when the laundrey either detergent was switched or wasn't rinsed well enough OR they didn't rinse off in the shower (little boys are notariously lazy about hygeine!)

Be sur to be using "free and clear" type detergent as well as similar hygeine products. and make sure you are putting the bedding and clothes through extra rinses in the wash.
