How to dye polyester coveralls from white to yellow?

I have a set of solid white men's painter coveralls that need to be dyed yellow. I was thinking about using RIT dye to dye them, but the fiber content is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. I'm wondering if this will still work? (it will only be worn once so it doesn't matter if it will fade over time) Or if I will need to use a different kind of dye in order for it to look good?

Thanks!


polyester is a man made fabric and will not dye well. The cotton will take up the dye much better and probably will cause an uneven effect.

    Now I wear the polypro under some B&C Wunderwear pants which are more "tear resistant". For shirts I still use the polypro a lot but have bought some of the shirts from the athletic department that are made for runners and bikers that "wick" . . . they work pretty well too. . . I like the sleeveless or short sleeve shirts in a lot of the dry caves here in TAG. Polypro is good as a first layer in wet caves. I would go with polyester or acrylic as an outer layer over nylon (or even cotton/poly stretch jeans --they look just about like regular jeans, but are lighter and don't shrink like 100% cotton).
