where can i buy cotton cordell buzzbaits. they dont make them anymore?

Check http://www.lurenet.com/catalog.aspx?catI D=CottonCordellLures

That company owns a lot of different bait companies and they are known to drop some and pick them up under another name.
Like the old Bill Dance Fat Free Shade are now under the name Bomber.
Look at all the buzz baits and see if one looks like the old Cordell.
Other than that E-Bay, or get lucky and find someone who has some and is willing to part with them.
Good Luck

Sounds like you got a good handle on what to use. Here are some other good choices:

1. Blue Fox Vibrax Minnow- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15446___ _SearchResults These work esp well in current situations. The 1/8-1/4 OZ Models will catch a variety of fish including Trout, Bass, Pike, Walleye, Etc.

2. Rapala Shallow Shad Rap- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_2850____ SearchResults These work exceptionally well in shallow weedy areas.

3. Booyah Chatterbait-http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_83936___ _SearchResults I was not "sold" on these until recently. If your fishing muddy/stained water or low light conditions, (like at Sunrise/Sunset and at Night), this newly designed lure WORKS! If the fish are conditioned to seeing, (and "feeling"), Spinnerbaits, a chatterbait puts out a different "signature" in the water.

4. A jig- Any 1/4 OZ Jig with a Berkley Curly-tailed Grub or a Berkley Gulp Leech. Jigs are inexpensive, productive, and catch a variety of fish. AND you don't feel so bad when you lose them! - http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98932___ _SearchResults

5. Cotton Cordell Rattle Trap- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44610___ _SearchResults

I live near Duluth, MN and fish in WI rivers regularly. Hope these work as well for you as they do for me?!!!

PS- Make sure to dowse all lures with some fish attractant. It makes fish "mouth" the lure a sec longer where you can feel them better.

Good luck.

  • Fishing Tackle - Jigging spoons flutter vs clunkers

I've just started vertical spoon jigging and wondered what my fellow anglers prefer, a spoon that drops quick like the Hopkins or one that flutters on the  drop.  I fabbed up some spoons by using a pair of #5 willow leaf blades soldered together with a split ring on either end.  Gives a nice slow flutter.  Seems like the heavy Hopkins type jigs drop too fast or am I off base on this? Flutter is OK but job #1 is to get it down there, the sooner the better.  I use a 1/2 oz spoon in 25 ft or less, 3/4 oz deeper.  Winter spoon jigging is more about finding active feeding fish than enticing neutral fish to bite.  My favorites are the BPS Laser Eye and the Cabelas Real Image jigging...
