Cotton Coat

I brought a coat that is 100% cotton and it seemed to get loads of bits on it, like dust or hair or something. How do I get them off?

Try a lint brush.=)

For example. will it go out of shape, wrinkle beyond repair, lose color?

I bought a black cotton coat and it wasn't cheap (to me) and it's brand new, but I need it to go down one size smaller. It's a black cotton coat. Will hot water cause the color to fade or will the coat get out of shape?
After one wash??

i would try washing and drying it in the dryer SEVERAL times, but using warm water not hot. the drying wil help in the shrinking process.

I have a white Burberry coat that's been in storage for about a year, due to a move. I recently got the coat out of storage in my attic, and when I removed it from the garment bag, it was covered in faint yellow stains. I have no idea what these stains are, or how to go about removing them. The coat is a cotton and wool blend. Any advise would be appreciated.

Uh-Ohhhhh....sounds like someone had an accident. lol, jk. Try the old club soda trick. If that doesn't work take it to a reputable cleaner.

I've tried repeatedly to dye this coat following the directions on the RIT bottles. I've tried straight black, I get gray. I've tried straight brown, got gray. I've tried a bottle of Black, Brown and a bit of Wine Red. Got gray.

The polyester prevents you getting the colour you want. For the dye to grab the fabric you need 55-60% or more, of natural fibre. Wool, cotton linen etc. You don't have that so it wont work.

Denis I think the dry cleaning will have fixed it into the material like dye.

Someone once said to me that if you spill milk you may never get rid of the stain or the smell, but you just have to clear up the best you can and live with the mark.

I actually think you should get a new coat or a big badge.
