Cotton Caps

I wash mine by hand in the shower. When I take off a cap and it's all sweaty, I rinse it off in the shower, wash it off with shampoo (inside and out), rinse it out, and then let it hang on a valve handle to dry.

I've tried washing caps in the washing machine without the wire cap shaped thing. It doesn't hurt the visor. But, it may turn the cap inside out and mess up the stitching inside, especially around the headband.

too many to use. Some of them are so big and sturdy and it is a shame to throw them away. Thank you.

Our curbside recycling program accepts them for recycle in my community. But, there are other things you can use them for once you clean them out. I've used them as containers for party favors. At Christmas, I use them to contain little goodies I make like spiced nuts, New Orleans pralines, toffee nuts, honey roasted cashews and almonds. I give them out to the trash man, the post people, UPS delivery person and whatever I have left over I deliver to the nursing homes in my area with a handmade Christmas card (they will tell you who is on a restricted diet). I simply use tulle or colored celophane tied with a ribbon to correspond with the cap color to make a beautiful little favor. They are also great to attach to a board, I hung mine on the wall to store little scrap crafts, ribbons, gimp, pieces of fringe, etc. They are also great for giving my "one bath wonder" to friends and family who have pulled a muscle, over worked in the yard or have a sprain. It is 3 T epsom salt, 2 T powdered milk and 3 T baking soda. Cover with the celophane, tie it off with a ribbon and there is just enough in the cap for one luxurious bath that softens the skin and relieves muscle pain.

i have a cotton ferrari baseball cap i got from italy its a little to big so it would be great if i could shrink it a little and keep the same quality

At stores like wall mart they sell a plastic holder for baseball caps that you use in the dishwasher... yes I said dishwasher. If you put your hat in the washing machine it will not be the same quality when it comes out as when you put it in. I would make sure I put my dishwasher on heat dry so the heat will shrink the hat a little, but if you use the holder, it will still hold its shape.
