i saw this interlock mini skirt that i bout at american apparel today, it was a small n i thought it would fit alright, but the bottom is a bit loose, since it was the last one, i had to buy it, just wondering will it shrink if i put in the laundry? if so, how much?
cuz i want it to shrink a bit, and when it does shrink, does it stay till that size? thanks
The interlock material doesn't shrink as much, but it'll still shrink a bit in the dryer. However, it'll stretch back out as you're wearing it.

i heard that american apparel imports cotton from china to produce it-s shirts in the states. i tried to find more information about the source of their textile capitol but was unable as they are currently expanding production and sales to china...
I don't know who sells it and to whom but when I was going through north florida and south Georgia on a particular highway I saw scores of cotton feilds. I know along time ago the south was known for its cotton production. The good quality cotton is going to someone. Clothing with all cotton is the most expensive and some companies are making sure they get the most of it. Perhaps you already know who those companies are. All we need to do is look in the stores and see the names of the companies that are charging big bucks for the all cotton garments.

This might seem like a random question, but I want to dye a white AA all-in-one playsuit to a different colour (they don't do the colour I want).
It's made out of cotton/spandex mix and I have a dress in the same fabric - the care lable says 'wash at 30 degrees' on the dress, so I assume the playsuit will be exactly the same, being the same fabric...
However, the fabric dye I want to use (Dylon) has to be used in a 40 degree wash...
Has anyone ever washed an AA cotton/spandex item at 40 degrees and did it turn out OK?
OR
Have you ever used a Dylon dye, meant to be used at 40 degrees at a lower temperature?
Dylon have discontinued their cold water dye, so I can't use that & I prefer to dye in my washing machine, because it's easier.
Thanks!
Gem
I've only ever dyed something by soaking it in a pale of water lol
I'm not sure whether the clothes would be harmed at higher temperatures - they might lose their elasticity & shape in a hot wash.
You might be better finding a different brand of dye, that doesn't involve a high temperature.

i bought a new t-shirt that has a label..."made in the usa by american apparel of 100% cotton"...how can i prevent this shirt to shrink? it fits perfectly right now and i am scared it will shrink from the wash/dry...any suggestions? would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Wash it in cold water, and dry with the lowest setting on your dryer. ours has an extra low setting.. but if your still worried just use an air setting. it might take awhile but it will go quicker if thats the only thing in there.

Howell: Money flowing into commodities powers cotton to fresh rally highs
Shallow dips continued to find buying interest until the market snapped a string of six consecutive higher closes with small losses in the last session before a break for Thanksgiving. Trading volumes declined and some market participants left on an early holiday.
Wet weather in parts of the Cotton Belt last weekend renewed speculation that another cut may be looming in the U.S. crop estimate. Market sentiment had been bolstered by a surprisingly strong weekly export sales report the prior week.
March hit a high Wednesday of 75.74 cents before backing off on mild profit-taking. Commercial selling capped the move after March edged above its high on Monday of 75.67 cents, topping its prior November high of 74.27 cents and filling a chart gap to 75.53 left on the way down in late September and early October 2008. The top of the next gap is 80.42.

Cotton is the textile with the best reputation for clothes making. Breathable and lightweight; there is no other better fabric for the skin. Everybody wears cotton for almost all the apparel items and in an incredibly large number of activities. Moreover, organic cotton has got into the spotlight together with the ecological threats that endanger the planet. What is the difference between conventional and organic cotton clothing ? Are there any direct benefits for the user? Normally, one may expect to learn how harmful the pesticides used in the treatment of the fibers can be for the human skin.
Well, the risks are neither direct nor serious for the human body. It is very difficult to blame conventional clothing for skin allergies or some other dermatological problems that one suffers from. Yet, even reduced incidence chances, it is nevertheless possible to have extremely sensitive skin. At present, there is no scientific study to back the use of organic cotton clothing solely for health purposes. The main motivation for choosing ecological apparel items, comes from the environmental awareness of the user. If we think about how many chemicals are absorbed by the environment on cotton plantations, then these clothes are worth every penny.
