Black Cotton

How do you keep black cotton t shirts from fading in the wash?
my friend is very compulsive about his black t shirts staying black, he wont even wear them after one washing because he says they are faded. how do I stop them from fading.

Add about a 1/2 cup of salt in the water, this will help set dye on cotton.

I have a pair of black cotton pants that almost feel like flanellette. I can't wear them because they attract every speck of dust and fluff. Is there anything I can do to minimise this problem?

spray it with static guard, you can get it at the super market or walmart

Is this possible? I have a black bandolier made of cotton canvas, and I want to dye/color it red for a Halloween outfit. I spray painted it but that barely did anything. Any ideas or suggestions? Or am I stuck with black?

To dye black any color, first you need to strip out the black. You can use bleach or a special dye stripper available with dyes -sometimes -and then the fabric can be dyed red. Some of the black may still remain, so you will get a deep red. If you don't want the bother and if you don't mind a very stiff bandolier, spray paint it with a white first for a primer coat, then spray the red over. For a really stiff bandolier, use acrylic primer that brushes on, then use red over the white.

I just bought a black cotton dress it is a v-neck with an empire waste (it is very simple and casual looking) I can see wearing it with cute flip flops but I wanted to wear it to dinner on Saturday, but we may end up going to a club after, how would I make it dressier for the club?

wear different color shoes like red pumps or any metallics. and also dress it up with some funky jewelry. i would also recommend doing something a little different with your hair rather than just wearing it down.

I have a 6'x9' sisal rug with a 1" cotton black border that has been faded by the sun in places. The sisal still looks great, but the border looks grayish and dull. Is it possible to dye it at home without going to a rug professional?

Dip it in india ink. (Art supply) Squeeze out well the excess. Let dry out good. This is permanent. Use rubber gloves and be careful not to get on other parts of the rug. Do this outdoors to be safe.
Try on a small portion FIRST to make sure this will work on your material.
