100 Cotton Jeans

I just bought a few clothes from www.drjays.com and most of the stuff i got are 100 percent cotton. How would i wash my clothes so it won't loose its colour fast and wont shrink?
can i iron them after they are dry?

If you want to hold on to the color, and keep the color from fading, the first thing you should do is put just plain water in the washing machine, and no soap, and add about 2 cups of vinegar, and just let the clothing sit in it for a couple of hours. The vinegar will help set the color.

After that, wash them in cold water with normal detergent (if they are dark, you might consider buying detergent specifically for dark clothing--it is available, though I cannot remember the name--I use it for our black and other dark items), and then hang them to dry, don't put them in the dryer.

If washed in cold, and never put in the dryer, cotton should not shrink. Colors will fade over time, even when washed in cold, and there's nothing you can do about that. Doing the vinegar soak first will help to better set the colors, however, and help prolong their life.

If you should ever need to remove a stain, you will probably need to wash in warm water. It won't hurt the clothing to do so from time to time, and I would be surprised if there is any shrinkage. Hot water will cause it, but warm should not. Most clothing which shrinks does so in the dryer.

I want to know what the ups and downs are for 100% cotton jeans and stretch jeans Ty.

The good- They usually will give you a really good, hugging fit. No stupid baggy areas, etc.

The bad - SHRINKAGE. Major shrinkage. Be careful how you wash and dry them, never use hot water and only tumble dry them.

I find it absolutely crazy that almost all jeans are stretch. I want real denim and need help finding it. Pleaseeee help with some brand names that sell 100% cotton jeans. Thanks!

Levi's 501 and 505 jeans are 100% cotton.

In fact, all Levi's jeans should be 100% cotton unless they specifically have a tag reading otherwise.

I have two pairs of 100% cotton levis 569 loose fit jeans, one dark blue and the other light blue. I also wear a lot of canvas shoes (ie. vans, converse, etc.) These two don't really mix because i always step on the back and make holes in these expensive ass jeans, so i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to shrink these jeans to make them skinnier. Ps. i can't do the whole sewing method

If they are new then wash them and dry in a hot dryer. 100% cotton shrinks.

These jeans were pretty expensive and a very good brand and a pen has exploded in my pocket and nothing is seeming to work hope you can help. =]

Use alcohol. The highest strength you can find. I really like 91% for these problems. You need to dissolve the ink without harming the dye of the jeans.

Some people will recommend hair spray. This is because hair spray is primarily alcohol.

Don't scrub at the fibers, just keep flushing the stain with alcohol and then rinse in cool clear water.
