Long Cotton Shirt

I KNOW that the dryer actually shrinks it, but how long should i wash a cotton shirt, that has never been washed before, in hot water? Its 90% cotton and 10% polyester
How long is one cycle?

How long would i have to put my large 100% cotton shirt in the wash/dryer to get it to shrink down to just a bit bigger than a medium.

And what settings should i put it on.

Wash it any way you usually wash your shirts, the key is the dryer. If you keep it in there on high heat for a long time, it will definitely shrink and feel tighter.

currently I hand washed one and when I was squeezing it to dry it faster, I noticed something white coming out of it. I couldn't comprehend what this could be. I thought it's a deodorant residue but it was too white and oily just like the hand cream I use. wherever I squeezed and twisted it, this cream came out. I only use hand cream for hands, forearms and elbows and I don't overuse it but I often wear these two long sleeved shirts when I'm using my laptop. how on earth could a cream stay inside a cotton shirt? I thought washing with laundry detergents will remove everything. what on earth happened? now I'll have to find something else for hands.

No, you don't have to find something else for your hands. You just need to use something else when you wash that shirt.

Your cream contains oils. Laundry detergent isn't very effective at removing oils...but dish washing liquid is.

Next time you wash the shirt, replace your laundry detergent with dish washing liquid. You won't need much...maybe 1/8 to 1/4 of a cup, depending on the size of the load. (It's ok to wash other clothes along with the shirt. The dish washing liquid won't hurt them.)


It doesn't matter which brand of dish washing liquid you use, as long as it's a good name brand. Most people recommend Dawn, but I've found other brands work just as well...Ajax, Palmolive, Joy, etc.

Dish washing liquid is specifically formulated to break down oils. It will break down the cream and allow your washer to wash it away.

ok well i need one that is for Men...because i am doing a cosplay if you know or have watched anime/manga of this guy Named L from the anime death note so if you know a store which sells long sleeve cotton shirts thanks also it has to be white=]
