How can I make a cotton t shirt for a stuffed animal? It is oddly shaped, I don't know how to make the pattern

My girlfriend and I have matching stuffed moose. I wanted to make a cotton shirt for hers for valentine's day. I tried once, but it is too hard to get the shape right. How can I make a pattern for the t shirt? How many pieces of fabric should I use, and where can I find out more information?

Go to your favorite fabric store with the stuffed moose and ask a clerk how to make the cotton shirt. They will be very helpful in providing the proper fabric and pattern.

If for some reason they are not able to help, ask the clerk who they would suggest to help you.

Most name brand fabric stores should have an expert to assist you every step of the way. That is how they build their reputation and they would love to win you as a loyal customer who will in turn encourage others to visit their store.

How do you make a clingy cotton shirt less "clingy"?

It's the kind of cotton t shirt that is longer than waste length and it totally "clings" onto me ( I am thin, but this is still unflattering) and I try to pull it away from my body, but it goes right back to clinging on to me....is there something you can do to make a shirt like this stop doing that??

Wash with cold water and do not put it in the dryer. Oh and before try tugging on the sides a few times. Trust me it works, i do that with jeans and tops when i put on a little weight.

Three suggestions:
1) http://www.patternreview.com to help you select a pattern. Jalie 2005 seems to be an overwhelming favorite

2) Cotton jersey is cheaper, but interlock is more stable and easier to handle -- I'd suggest interlock (which looks the same on both sides) instead of jersey for the first t or two.

3) This is for when you get some experience under your belt:

You might also check to see if you can find a copy of KwikSew's book Sweatshirts Unlimited. This has a nice basic discussion of sewing dartless basics like t-shirts and sweatshirts on both a sewing machine and a serger. Very step by step, even if the illustrations are very 80's. Good information on making design changes to basic patterns, too.

How can I make a 100% cotton shirt shrink without using the dryer?

I bought a thermal/waffle shirt made of 100% cotton but it says "Hand wash and line dry only." Dry cleaning is ok too. It is a tad too big and I was planning on putting it in the dryer to shrink it just a bit. It has some markings on it that will surely melt in the dryer. What can I do?

Try washing it in very hot water and letting it air dry. You might be able to dry it in the dryer if you put it on a very low setting and check it frequently, but if the markings are made of certain kinds of rubber they can put out harmful fumes.

How do i make a cotton dress shirt bigger?

its a 100% cotton long sleeve button up shirt .i bought it i thought it would be ok but when i wore it the shirt was to short everything else like neck and sleeve was okey... it was just like short help!!! btw i am a guy

Soak the smaller part in vinegar, press and seal in a large ziplock bag. Leave for 12--24 hours, remove and wash. The vinegar reacts with the gluten in the cotton, stretching it. If it's too wide, it can always be taken in.

  • Layers of Style - Michele Duke

There are two reasons for layering – warmth and style (and if you are layering for warmth, you probably won’t mind looking good too).

Layering for fashion usually means several layers of multiple and contrasting garments. Three tops with a skirt over leggings and boots, and one or two scarves is a typical layered get up.

Layering can work for all different body shapes to show off or disguise your silhouette depending on how you wear it.  Tall people benefit by chopping up the body whilst petites can create a longer line by using thin scarves and block colour.

These basic principles below should make it easier to get it right, but remember – style is all about creating your own look so don’t be afraid to experiment.
