How To Get Ink Out Of Cotton Shirt

We've tried various detergents, one of which seems to have spread the stain out a bit. But nothing has shifted it. By the way it's red and the shirt id pale blue.

I've had some success with the Stain Devils series of products - they do one specifically for ball point pen.

It's a white cotton dress shirt. The ink has had time to set and has already been washed in warm water once. And the ink is from a pen (not marker). Is there anything I can use to get the ink out?

Hair spray is an excellent pen-ink remover---and you can try it, but it generally works best on fresh ink that hasn't been washed yet. Now that it's set.....well, you've have to see. It might fade it out more.

A pen(gel) leaked in my shirt pocket. It then dried and I took it to a laundry place hoping that it would go away. There it was washed, dried and ironed. The spot was still there when I got it back.

Not much luck after the stain was set in when ironed.
You need to attack it early with hair spray or any prewash products like oxiclean.
Do not use hot water and blot the spot instead of rubbing.

The pen didn’t bust on me, its just a one line mark 2inches I accidently made while putting my backpack on after class with my pen in my hand. The shirt is red and 100% cotton. Now I read lots of Y! Answers that say hair spray, which I have as well as alcohol square swabs. But I need to know how do I apply it or apply any other recommended solution. Do I just spray it and let set or do I brush it in, or spray and throw on the washer? And do I add detergent? No sorry I can't let it go its my favorite shirt. Thanks!

take a couple paper towels and fold them up. put it under the spot, then spray the spot with unscented hairspray, blot, and repeat until the ink is gone, then wash the shirt right away before the hairspray dries. (the way you would normally wash the shirt, whatever detergent you normaly use)
Works like a charm.

I have a hockey shirt and it's made out of cotton. It was in a bag and something leaked on it... I don't know what it is... But it looks like ink. It is black/blue ink and it's leaked on a maroon and white cotton shirt. I have washed it once already and nothing happened... Should I just wash it again? Or is there a specific way to remove the stain?
