Heavyweight Cotton T-shirt

What does 'heavyweight' mean, anyways? And what's different about a 'heavyweight' t-shirt compared to a regular shirt?

Heavy weight means that the fabric is thicker. Only natural fibers like cotton shrink, unless they are pre shrunk. If you want to avoid shrinkage don't wash in hot water and don't dry it in the dryer.

I just bought a heavyweight 50/50 lime green Hanes t-shirt.

It's 50% preshrunk cotton and 50% polyester.

On the label it reads:

Machine wash cold. Non-chlorine bleach, when needed. Tumble dry medium. Do not iron decoration.

Okay so when it says "do not iron on decoration" does that mean that if you do, than the shirt will melt or the design itself come out waxy or something?

What if I put some cloth on top of it?

you can if you want but it may melt the design and smear all over your shirt. Just iron the very edge of it and you should be fine. Well i guess you could just dont hold it on for a long time!!

Ok I'm ordering a school sweatshirt online..that's the only way to get them...but i have no idea what size to get I'm a girl 5'6 140 pounds i have sweatshirts from size small to extra large all different brands..so I'm clueless on what size to get this is the only info it gives me

I almost always go with the biggest size. If it's for both sexes go with the large. It's always comfortable and will always fit. I love sweatshirts, my husband collects them for me from wherever he goes. I usually get the team sweatshirts. They are all larges and I weigh 120 and I'm 5'6". The sweatshirts are big but comfy!

And im a medium in mens.

Now I found this shirt online that I really really want.

Medium should be fine, but these are giving you the width and the length, you can compare the "measurements" of the shirts you have now, just to be sure.

I am trying to design my own T-shirts but I don't know nothing about t-shirts, I want good t-shirts NOT like the ones that stretch and looks cheap ....
I got two choice:

-- 6.1 ounce heavyweight
-- Pre-shrunk 100% cotton

OR

-- 5.3 ounce, 50% cotton / 50% polyester
-- Double-needle stitched bottom and sleeves

And does the weight really matters?if so why/how?

I'd go with number two...better fit...looks nicer
