i exercise a lot, and a few of my workout shirts have started showing dark sweat stains in the under-arm area. i have watched them and stains are still there. the t-shirts are all 100% cotton. how can i get these stains out?
i meant to say "washed", not "watched".
If you have washed them many times and dried them the stains may be set and not come out. You can use bleach on white. I mix bleach with Mean Green to get stubborn stains out offwhite. It gets baby formula out also. You can hang them in the bright sun for the day and the sun bleaches it.You might try regular peroxide on it also. It really gets tough stuff out.You propbaly need to rinse the underarms out as soon as you finish exercising so they will not set into the material. Most stains come out while they are still wet if you will remember to do it.You may need to change deoderants also. It may be reacting to your body and causing the stains! Best wishes!
Bradley Rose and Oliver Van Emden went on ITV 1 on the 27th of July 2010 to talk about the shirt that doesn't show sweat stains. Available ...
I've got a few 100% cotton and only half cotton shirts.
Last night I was wearing a full cotton one, and all I had done since I put it on was sit on the floor and watch tv.
But later I noticed that I still had sweat stains, and I hadn't done anything.
If I keep my arms aways from my body long enough, they'll dry out and disappear (sp?).
Is there any way to prevent this?
It could be a reaction with your deodorant that causes a stain. If the stain remains, saturate the stain with white vinegar, let it sit an hour or so, then launder as usual. It will disappear and smell nice too.

Ribbed binding on neck and arm
When I sweat, it appears as normal sweat with no discoloration. However, after a few days, the fabric appears to have been bleached where my sweat was. I am confident without any doubt, that there's a chemical in my skin/sweat at discolors certain fabrics similar to bleach stains.
I am 24 years old, Caucasian male, and have noticed this problem since I turned 20. I have noticed that the fabric is usually 100% cotton, either dyed or printed, for the "bleaching" to occur; yet not consistent either- not all 100% cotton shirts are affected.
Any reason why this happens?
Why does my skin sweat a bleach-like chemical?
Sweat is produced in apocrine sweat glands in the same way. However, the sweat from apocrine glands also contains proteins and fatty acids, which make it thicker and give it a milkier or yellowish color. This is why underarm stains in clothing appear yellowish. Sweat itself has no odor, but when bacteria on the skin and hair metabolize the proteins and fatty acids, they produce an unpleasant odor. This is why deodorants and anti-perspirants are applied to the underarms instead of the whole body.

I get sweat / oil stains on the collar of my cotton dress shirts. When I clean them at home, I treat them with a stain remover (such as Zout) immediately after taking them off (before the stain sets) and again before laundering (sometimes several days later).
I am just starting to use a cleaner for my shirts and wondering how I should handle this. It seems like it makes sense to pre-treat the stained collars, before the stain sets, but I am wondering if this will be incompatible with anything that the cleaner does. These are all 100% cotton shirts.
Thanks for any advice.
Bonus Q: Does the cleaner simply launder these shirts, or use some special process?
Cleaners do not launder shirts in soap and water. If you will pretreat your stains at home your shirts will most likely turn grey. Cleaners use chemicals and blueing to get the shirts white and clean. It is not a good idea to wash shirts and launder them professionally. Best to do only one.
which one is better if you play sports and sweat all day, and which is better to be cooler, doesn't insulate heat.?
50/50 t shirt is 50% cotton 50% polyesters
Go with a good quality 100% cotton shirt.
The Poly in the 50/50 may help it keep its shape and look nicer, but it also retains heat and does not 'breathe' as well.
