Where can I buy a nice cotton robe in navy blue for a guy who wears a 2X?

I've tried the usual Brooks Brothers, Casual Male XL, etc. He's tall (6'2'') so I want a larger/longer size so it doesn't look so short. Since he also wears a 2X in shirts, I'm assuming I need robes that will come in that size. A one size fits all won't be good; he's tried those on and they are too small. I want this to be a nice gift, like a spa or hotel quality robe, so $100 or so is just fine.

I'd also really like to get it in Navy Blue, not White. Cotton terrycloth (not those velour or waffle knits) is a must.

Thanks for any suggestions as to wear to look!
I found an awesome looking one at JC Penney's; thanks!

How about a barn? Or, maybe the tarp they cover the space shuttle with. Ooh, ooh, ooh....I know,......a tent, yeah, a tent. Have you considered JC Penny's curtain selection. It's huge....like your friend.

Why are organic cotton sheets so rough? How can I get them softer?

I bought organic cotton sheets and ugh! They are rough and scratchy, not soft at all. Same thing for organic cotton napkings, like sandpaper against my lips! :( I am very disappointed. I bought knits and a terry robe in organic cotton and they are the softest. But woven cotton is soooo unbearably rough and itchy against the skin. Does anyone know why that is?

Also can you please tell me how to get it to soften up? I have heard about enzyme wash but I don't know what that is or how to do it at home. Google was no help! :-/

Do you think if I buy digestive enzyme cellulase and put a few caps (how many??) in the wash it will 'eat up' the roughness, since cellulase digests fiber? Should I put any of my natural soap or just the cellulase?

PLEASE: Don't tell me fabric softener or dryer sheets, I have chemical allergies and can't use any of that commercial stuff and why I bought the organic cotton sheets in the 1st place, they were supposed to help me out. Thanks.

You've actually answered your own question. Woven cloth is not meant to provide "softness" compared to knits and terry "weaves". Linen weaves are meant to use minimal material, have less give and minimal stretch.

In terms of solving your dilemmna, the easiest thing to do is to use the sheets and napkins more often (i.e. break them in). Through use, the threads will get "ratty" and provide a softer feel. Between washes, regular use will "wear" the rough surfaces to smooth them out. Will never get to knit and terry softness, but it helps greatly. look at what stone-washing did for jeans - which focuses more on wearing than unraveling, but has components of both.

Good luck!

People with feral cat experience can you help?

Hi I'm in NY and long island is getting the bulk of the storm right now in less than an hour we've probably had maybe 3-4 inches of snow so far we have about 7 inches by where I live and its still snowing bad.

Anyway, I take care of several feral cats, of which I have four the mom cat and three 3-4mokittens we set up a container with a huge fleece robe and probabbly 4-6 smaller blankets of all types, cotton, fleece, knit, etc...anywho i'm going to pull an all nighter to shovel snow on the hour bc where we have them on the patio is pretty safe but i am so scared they are gonna freeze to death.

it totally looks like the second shelter pictured here http://www.urbancatleague.org/Shelters.h tml we used a black garbaage bag to cover the outter shell and we have a huge ply wood board on top so snow won't get in the front hole.

I'm sorry I am freaking out because these cats are like my children (I have six of my own) and if I could I would take them in but they are still a bit skiddish.

They are very healthy and fat! the kittens look like 5 mo olds.

any way im just looking for anyone who has experience in sheltering ferals and can help me out.

Right now we have old carpet covering the sides so snow won't get in since its so windy.

Help!

thanks

-crazyass catlady.
I will be going out tomorrow to purchase some straw to put inside the shelter just found out thats a lot better
Thank you soo much...I'm a huge cat lover and I worry about them so much. (I'm a big worrier) But thanks again.

The cats will not freeze to death; I guarantee that much. As long as they have shelter from the wind they will just curl up together and ride out the storm.
I live a '''bit further north''' than you (Central Canada) and the temperature here last week was MINUS 15F degrees; and it does get a lot colder (-35/45F degrees) than that on occasion. We have a feral cat colony here that can trace its origins back a hundred years and we have never lost one of them to the cold. They Winter in an abandoned shed that the locals stock with loose hay for the cats to burrow into.
I do not recommend blankets for insulation. Condensation from the cats will freeze to the blankets and negate any insulation effect the blankets might have provided. Loose straw is the best solution and should be changed out at least once a month.

CHRiSTMAS WiSHLiST?!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?

ok. so this is mine for this year,
but i want some more ideas....
i know there's already a lot on it, but im not expecting to get everything.i just like to give my parents more options to choose from, and what is in their price range (its usually about $500 on christmas gifts from 'santa', and $200 from them....then all my relatives are like $50, and i have 8 relatives that give me gifts. so thats aprox: $1,000.)

i usually have 3 relatives give the money they would spend on me to a charity of my choice.

i think you already have enough on your list and if you need to ask random people for suggestions for stuff you cant think of yourself then you really dont need it.

Organic cotton isn't treated and cotton is not a soft material when woven, usually repeated washing will soften the cotton, vinegar can also soften it if you soak it in a strong solution for about 2 hours before you wash it. I've never tried and enzyme solution since I'm allergic to everything to do with laundry, and afraid that will cause hives too. Good luck.

Maternity Sleepwear Is A Great Gift For The Expecting Mother

If there is one thing in an expecting mom's wardrobe that she just can't have enough of, it's comfortable maternity sleepwear. Even better, is maternity sleepwear that can double as nursing loungewear. Sleepwear and loungewear is the most likely clothing that a new mom will be living in for the fog of sleepless nights following her baby's birth. Also, following the birth of her baby as her body heals, it is doubtful that she will even be able to fit into her pre-pregnancy clothing or want to wear her maternity clothing. Nursing loungewear serves as a very comfortable transition wear clothing for the hospital or house which is where most new moms will be spending of their time!
