Cotton/Polyester Bed Sheets?

I know it's not very cool, but I prefer cotton/polyester bed sheets to all cotton. Only problem--the blends all seem to be inexpensive sheets in boring solid colors or timid floral patterns. Do any of the high end linen manufacturers make sheets in cotton/poly?

I have been happy with Anna's Linens, I hope you have a store in your area, but they do have an on-line store. Stroud's should also have some cotton/poly blend sheet sets.

What kind of fabric is best for sheets?

I bought $75 100% cotton sateen sheets from Bed Bath & Beyond, and after one wash the sateen finish had disappeared even though it said the sheets were machine washable. The sheets are also excessivley wrinkly and I have long hair, so any hair that falls out while I'm sleeping clings to the sheets even after washing. I have really long, thick hair, so there's a lot of hair collecting on the sheets and I have to individually pick them out (gross!). My other polyster-cotton blend sheets don't have the same problem, but I've heard that 100 percent cotton sheets are better (they're certainly more expensive). So what's the deal? Why am I paying more for sheets that hold up worse? Is there a type of cotton I should be looking for? Or should I just stick with the cotton-polyster blend? I don't want to spend a fortune on sheets that will end up having the same problem.

Did you save your receipt for the sheets? I'd write the company a polite letter of complaint. Maybe they'll reimburse you or give a new different type of sheet.

Cotton-polyster blend holds up fine. Get 'em at Target, KMart or Wal-Mart. Wait 'til they have a White Sale.

What NOT to buy: flannel sheets (you get real sweaty and they make a lot of lint in the dryer); and silk or satin sheets, because you slide off them and they are expensive to clean.

Hope that helps!

Bed Sheets Question...?

Ok, I'm having a huge problem finding sheets that don't pill. I've bought just about every type of sheet under the sun, (high thread count, percale, bamboo,100% Egyptian cotton, cotton/poly blend along with countless others )and they all pill or become scratchy. I've always followed the laundering directions, washed them separatly and even have had them pressed at the dry cleaners! Does any one know of a brand of sheets that are on the market now, that are soft, stay cool in the summer, and don't pill. Price is no object, I will pay any amount of money to have decent sheets... Thanks!

Hi there,
I am like you, I absolutely detest sheets that are scratchy or pilled. Ugh!! I have found that even though some sheets boast a very high thread count (some are so high that it seems impossible to me) sometimes sheets with a 300 thread count are much nicer than some with a 900 thread count. I don't put a lot of my sheet buying decisions based on thread counts. Anyway, one brand I have found is found at Macy's and it is called the "Hotel Brand". Now, since you say price is no object, I will tell you that they are very pricey BUT they are divine. We have a king sized bed and the sheets are $125 each. That's $125 for the top sheet and $125 for the bottom sheet. I don't even recall what the pillow cases cost but I did buy mine on sale so they weren't quite this expensive. They have held up wonderfully and are so smooth. If you don't have a Macy's store in your area, you can always go to Macys.com and shop online. Also, there are some sheets I purchased at Bed, Bath and Beyond that are also extremely soft and didn't pill......they are made out of Beech trees. They are not as expensive as the HOTEL BRAND at Macy's but they're very nice. The Beech tree sheets are very VERY soft but I have tried the Beech tree sheets from other manufacturers and haven't like them nearly as much as Bed, Bath and Beyond's. I tried Linens & Things Beech sheets and they were not nearly as nice as BB&B. (Don't be embarrassed to return sheets that pill up after one wash or even a few.....I have returned many sheets after sleeping on them and I am talking expensive sheets too!! I always keep my receipts and of course wash and dry them and put them back in their original packaging before returning. No one has ever questioned me when they feel of the awful pilling on the sheets.) You won't have to do this with your Macy's HOTEL Brand sheets tho OR your BB&B Beech tree sheets. Good luck and happy dreams! **by the way, I tried the jersey sheets several years ago when Oprah was pushing them on her show......they were supposed to feel like a soft tee shirt. Well, they were NOT soft and they pilled so badly that I threw them away!! )

Best sheets... I want the brand name, thread count, and where you buy them.?

I'm tring to find nice bed sheets...cotton only. No flannel, silk, satin, polyester blends etc. I know the higher the thread count the better is the common rule, but I'm not sure thats always the case, so I want names. Also, please no statements like egyptian cottan, pima cotton etc. unless you have a name brand and location. I know you can buy bed sheets at bed bath, and beyond but there are so many choices to make I want someone who can give me a good recommendation for sheets.

It's all about the thread count. As you wash the higher thread count, they don't pill, they stay absorbent and feel as soft as silk. I found some 1000 TC, but you could look on overstock for anything over 400 and be VERY happy. Brand does not make a difference in bed.http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/100 0-TC-Egyptian-Cotton-Striped-Sheet-Set/2 941327/product.html?
If you really want the best, though, why not go for pure silk? Mmmmmm...http://www.vivaterra.com/pls/enetrixp/!s tmenu_template.main?complex_id_in=482007 .486161.908110.3132885.page

  • The Mystery Of Damask Bed Linen @ Angelica Holmberg

An exotic sounding term, but what is it really…? Let’s take a look and see what damask bedding is all about and how it just might be perfect for your next bed linen choice.

These luxurious bed linens are woven from silk (or linen) so that the direction and pattern of the threads create a complex pattern in the very fabric itself, frequently depicting flowers, stripes, or checks.

The name comes from the ancient city of Damascus in Lebanon. Selected for fine quality sheets, pillow cases, bed spreads, duvet covers, drapery, and upholstery, damask is very beautiful and quite elegant. You could say that these are actually sculpted linens.

Let’s take a look at a few of the wonderful selections available, maybe you’ll see something that gives you ideas for your next bedroom redecorating adventure:
