Bamboo Cotton Bedding

I'm looking to buy affordable organic/ ecofriendly/ fairtrade/ all natural bamboo/ cotton/ etc... bed sheets, pillows, pillowcases, the works. Any suggestions of where I can get this for a reasonable price instead of just buying IKEA sheets or something? Thanks so much!

I've been reading a lot of different bamboo sheets and everyone says they're better. They're also a lot more expensive than regular cotton (or even silk) bed sheets. Are bamboo sheets better than cotton sheets?

Bamboo is a grass which means it's susceptible to being eaten by bugs when it's growing. In order to keep itself from being eaten, bamboo has developed not only antibacterial qualities but also antifungal (more likely in a dense wet bamboo forest).

Bamboo bed sheets are specifically known to actually kill such Staphylococcus bacteria. Bamboo sheets really are great. They're a little more expensive, but you can sometimes find them on sale or find a website that sells bamboo sheets that takes coupons.

Dunno if it's just because I'm in humid Florida or if I'm just "hot blooded", but poly, rayon, et al, really bring on a sweat, especially in bedding linens. Anybody have any experience with the new bamboo?

I have not heard about bamboo fabric so I cannot help there.
I do know that in hot climates you should never use synthetic fabrics only natureal. If you had 100% cotton you would be better. NO polyester, rayon,et al mixed with the cotton or it will not be a cool fabric.
Since bamboo is a natural fiber it should be cool provided there are no synthectics mixed with it.

You know in summer ,the weather is very hot ? what material is your bed sheet and pillow cases?Cotton or others ,such as bamboo ,straw, or paper ?

100 percent cotton, 200-250 thread count is what I tend to use. But not brushed cotton, as it can get too hot. Also, higher thread counts will not let the fabric breathe.

If you're interested in consumption habits, check out German bedding - they use a bottom sheet, then the top sheet is part of the comforter, with matching pillowcases. The Brigitte Hachenburg catalog has an example. Go to http://www.brigitte-hachenburg.de then select Wohn Ideen (far left) and choose schlafen. It's a cool idea!
