Baby Girl Crib Bedding?

Ok, so I am looking for a crib bedding set for my daughter. I am looking for elegant, victorian almost. I love eyelet, lace, and what not. I like soft colors. I'm really not into the bright bold colors. The issue I'm having is that I can't find any that are 100% cotton. Not even the sheet is. I can understand the dust ruffle not being 100% cotton, but I would like the bumper and sheet at least to be. Any suggestions?
Oh, the sheet set that I wanted that was at babies r us is no longer being sold and the other ones are in the 300 dollar range...oi. I know. I am picky. :-)

I think this is beautiful and fits your description but it's a little expensive, http://www.sugarplumdreams.com/serena-an d-lily-kate-3-piece-crib-bedding-set.htm l They have a lot of other nice sets too.

I have to buy a crib bedding set but they r all kind of not a very soft material. What material should i buy?

for it to be soft? 100% cotton or cotton with polyester and what is thread count, how much should it be? I found one that was a plush comforter from georges baby at walmart today, i liked the material of the comforter, it was veryyy soft but i did not like the design at all!! I am looking for something with characters and more fun. I liked this one loony toones one too but again the material sucked. Any suggestions people?

First of all, you wouldn't be using a fluffy comforter anyway. It is a suffocation hazard. I'm a quilter, so I get it.

I find that 100% cotton or 75/25 to be the best choices for sheets year around. 50/50 is uncomfortable for me, so I don't buy it period. It is more important that the sheet fit snugly and that it goes around the bottom of the mattress adequately so the baby cannot pull it up (there have been a handful of strangulation due to too short crib sheets).

I am making my own bed sheets for baby. I want a jungle theme and they discontinued the little animals I really liked (I was pregnant 3 years ago, but miscarried). I have no intention of paying $25 for a crib sheet that I can make for less than $8.

Baby's unknown allergy??????

My aunt's baby has skin rashes and becomes very irratible especially at night time. We changed all the baby's clothes to eithe 100% cotton or organic. We changed the detergent. All the baby's materials like blankets and bumpers and bed sheets are all either cotton or organic. We checked if he had a milk allergy and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Help!!! what could the baby's allergy be? The pediatrician took tests and the results are unknown. The baby is only on formula and has not yet started any type of cereal or solid foods. The pediatrician also perscibed rash cream and allergy medicine to be taken at night time but it doesn't help baby at all.

Please share asap!!!
the baby has been using the same shampoo, soaps, and wipes ever since he was born and no allergic reaction to any of those either.

Most formulas contain quite a lot of soy, milk, and corn. So I'm guessing that its probably one of those.

Alimentum Ready-To-Feed is corn-free.. so you could try that for a week and see if anything improves.

If not, then you could switch to something milk-free, or soy-free.. until you find the solution.

Allergy tests for babies are not very reliable.. so you're going to have to do a lot of trial and error.

As for detergents, it still could be the detergent even if you changed types.. you may want to try All Free & Clear.. many people with allergies have done very well with it. The only cases I know of that haven't done well with it, are people with a coconut allergy.

I'm highly suspicous that this may be a corn allergy, esp since the creams and allergy medicine aren't helping. Most creams and medications contain corn, so that may inactivate the helpfulness of the medication.

You might could try Cortizone ointment (cortizone in petroleum jelly) and see if that helps. Don't use much of it.. or regularly though as the steriod in it can damage the skin in repeated uses. But it would help you figure out what the problem might be.

What should I do to get A&D ointment out of a pair of pants?

The A&D ointment that I use on my baby was left on my bed and I apparently sat on it with a good pair of pants on. Will the stain even come out and should I pre-treat it with anything? I'm bad enough at doing laundry.....my son comes to me if he WANTS to shrink his clothes! Anyways, it is made with petroleum...like vaseline. Please help, I really like these pants.
(Pants are made of 100% cotton)

REALLY HOT water and dish soap. the heat will take the waxy part of the ointment out, and the dish soap will tackle the grease

Making nursery set (sewing). My fabric shrank too much to fit the pattern - What do I do?

I'm trying to make a nursery set from a Simplicity pattern. I haven't sewed in years so I decided to start with the fitted sheet (seemed like an easy thing to start with). I washed and dried the 100% cotton fabric (I've read that is very important to do). It started out as 45" fabric (that's standard, right?). Now it is 42.5". It shrank THAT MUCH!

So the pattern I have asks for (just about) the full width of the fabric (selvage to selvage). Now the pattern is coming up an inch and a half short (3/4" over each half of the folded fabric - the pattern is actually a quarter of the sheet, fabric folds twice).

Have you made fitted sheets for baby beds before? I don't want it to not fit and I'm not anywhere near the person I'm making it for, so I can't really go fit it to the mattress (plus it's a surprise anyway).

What do I do? Am I going to have to add fabric to the sides? That sounds yucky looking. Are Simplicity patterns for fitted sheets too big if there is no shrinkage? Help!
My issue is that I have really invested a lot in this project. I have picked out a range of very pretty fabrics that are all on the same theme. My intentions are to use certain fabrics for each part of the set (one for the bumper pad, another for the dust ruffle, etc). They're all 45" fabric, and all by the same manufacutrer, so I'm sure they'll all have this shrinkage. I don't want to have to use a plain fabric on any of the components.

I too made my sons nursery set- It turned out nicely. I ran into the same problem with the fitted sheets. I ended up having to use that fabric for other things - a nursing privacy cover, the bumber, appliques, an organizer for diaper creams etc to hang near the changing table, a customized cover for the changing pillow and a boppy cover.
Out of the nursery set, the fitted sheets are truely the least costly. The fabric was at least $3 a yard - 3 yards per sheet needed =$9 per sheet. Fitted sheets were $5. Extra sheets were given to me as a gift or second hand. In the end I needed about 3 or 4 sheets and these got him through all the way through toddlerhood just fine.

Buying baby blankets might feel like a simple job but the truth is it will be one of the more vital decisions you will make for your little baby. Now obviously you don’t need to wreck your brains over it, but just need to take care of a few [simplstraightforward] points.

First thing first, your baby will be quite sensitive to all objects around it. As cute as your little one is, he or she is even more fragile and must be protected from all foreign substances that could harm them. Therefore the first thing I make sure while purchasing a baby blanket is the quality of the fabric. Usually 100% cotton fabrics do not harm the child. They feel soft and cozy as well. Blankets made out of pure cotton and cotton fleece generally make the baby sleep well without them feeling any kind of itchiness  on their skin.
